retail work advice/tips

this one's not a mummy question but work related.

I'm after some advice from others who work in retail - any tips how to increase KPI's, drive add ons and reach targets etc? I've just started a new job and I really want to excell at what I do, so I can eventually move up in the ranks, but feel like I struggle with this sometimes.

thanks!

Hi, there is a philosophy that has proved over and over to be effective particularly in retail. The philosophy is called FISH and there's a book about it by a guy called Stephen Lundin. The philosophy is based on a fish market in Seattle - a crap job involving early starts, freezing cold weather and a product that smells bad. These guys go to work and make the absolute best of every day. When I worked in retail we did fish Fridays and the targets more than doubled.

Also I used to find that customers can sense when you are desperate for a sale. Your first priority should be their satisfaction and happiness to come back again, recommend you to their friends, even if they are only spending $10, they are still a customer that can take their $10 elsewhere. If you prioritise making the customer happy the rest should follow.

Another book that is good for helping you feel good and boost your confidence is the magic of thinking big - this book focuses on excuses we make to ourselves for why we can't - too young, too old, not good at it etc. The book reminds us why these excuses are only in our heads and not the reality.

I hope this helps, best of luck!
