Advice please!!
I am 7 months pregnant with my first child and I would like to hear how other Mum’s have managed their anxiety with a newborn baby’s safety.
I lost my baby sister to SIDS a long time ago (I was the one who found her), and I’ve never really been able to get over the fear. Even when I babysit for friends, I have to go in and listen to the kids breathing every 5 minutes just to make sure.
I’m not sure how I’m going to go once I give birth, because the thought of not being awake 100% of the time for my new baby is sending me out of my mind.
I am thinking of getting an angel mat to monitor Bub (more for my own peace of mind), but i’d love to hear what other Mums have found to be helpful to put your mind at ease?

There's unjustified fear and justified fear. After what you witnessed and went through your brain has justified fear. Devices will help put your mind at ease but what will ultimately help is to see a SIDS counsellor to help you through it. All new parents get paranoid but you may need extra help or you may find yourself getting no sleep from constantly checking.
How awful for you - have you ever received counselling? I think that would be a great first step.
I've always slept my infants in sleeping bags because I was always paranoid about blankets coming loose. I've heard really good things about the angel mats too
